Please read through the research project descriptions very carefully and make sure that you address ALL of the points that I detail under each option. I want to read a thoughtful and reflective paper, folks, so take some time to analyze how your particular project has been related to the topics that we have covered in class and/or what you have learned through completing your project. Be creative, too, when appropriate. Bottom line is that I have read LOTS of these final papers from other students, so give me something surprisingly new that will make me think or gain a new perspective.
It is most important that you follow the directions in the paragraph above and address all of the points for your project. But, I know, you still want to know, "How long does the final paper have to be?" The set page limit is 6 - 7 pages in length with a maximum of 10 pages if needed to write a thorough paper. This page count does not include the title page, the appendix (your interview questions & consent forms), and your reference page.
D. Write your life story.
(a) Provide a detailed description of the yourself and your relationship with all members of your family. Be sure to include all relevant background information that would be important for an outside reader to be aware of. Also include detailed information about the living arrangements of the family members (i.e., who, where, when, how long, any problems?).
(b) Briefly summarize the topics you will address in the paper about your life growing up in your family. (i.e., family of origin, parenting styles, love styles, family rules, etc)
(c) Use the topics you listed in section (b) as headings and write in detail how you compare to the information presented in your text book. Be sure to bold all concepts in your paper.
(d) First, analyze how you feel about the way you were raised. Discuss each topic covered. Second, how has reflecting on your life and writing about it changed your thoughts regarding the topics and your understanding of why your parents did what they did? Third, based on your new knowledge from this class, how would you raise your future child in reference to how you were raised. For example: what would be the same? What would be different? Why? Based on what facts from the book?
(e) Overall grammar, punctuation and paper organization.
Reminder: All concepts and terms must be bolded in your paper.
