Analyze how particular elements of a story or drama interact (e.g., how setting shapes the characters or plot).
The purpose of the Book Report Brochure is to be able to identify literary elements while reading a novel. Follow the instructions below and use your rubric as a guide. The rubric can be found in Schoology.
The assignment is MANDATORY. All students must read a fiction chapter book (novel) at least 100 pages at an appropriate reading level. No comic book style books like Wimpy Kids, Dork Diary, etc. This project is worth 100 points.
This book report is due on Friday, October,, 2021.
Book reports will be accepted until Wednesday, October th 2021; however, 10 points per day will be deducted.
The Outside Back Right (cover) Page should have the following information:
a. Title of Book
b. Author's Name
c. Picture/Visual Relation to the Book
d. Student's Name
The inside Left Page should include the following information: (20 points)
a. Characters
1. Main/Major-give 2 character traits that describe the major character and then give evidence/support from the text that supports the character traits/characteristics (3-5 sentences)
2. Minor/Supporting-give 2 character traits that describe the minor character and then give evidence/support from the text that supports the character traits/characteristics (3-5 sentences)
The inside Middle Page should include the following information:
a. Top of Page-Setting/Background Information-detailed description of when where the story takes place (3-5 sentences)
b. Bottom of Page-Picture/Visual relating to the book
• The outside Back Left Page should include the following information:
a. Top of Page-Resolution-detailed description of how the conflict was resolved (3-5 sentences)
b. Bottom of Page-Picture relating to the book
• Literary Devices
Literary Devices surround us in literature but they can be missed if one is not looking for them. Your job is to choose at least 3 examples of the following terms and find examples in your novel. You are to include the sentence and the page number: alliteration, allusion, hyperbole, simile, metaphor, foreshadowing, imagery, onomatopoeia, personification, or dialogue.
• Review Write a review discussing the plot of the book (exposition, rising action, climax, and falling action). This is where you demonstrated that you read the book. Discuss your opinion of the book-if you would recommend it, why or why not.
