Assignment:

Analyze a social situation within the framework of the fundamental attribution error (i.e., the correspondence bias).

Instructions

You are running late to a meeting with a friend because your teacher insisted on meeting with you after class to discuss your grade. Upon arriving, your friend says, "You are inconsiderate and unreliable." Why did your friend immediately think that your lateness was due to your personality instead of considering other factors? In your answer, use the classic Jones & Harris (1967) study on attributions about an author's attitude in essays about Fidel Castro and the concept of the fundamental attribution error/correspondence bias to explain your friend's behavior.
