Assignment:

2. Analyze factors related to absorption of medications.
3. Drug-to-drug interactions may include the pharmacokinetic interactions of absorption, distribution, metabolism, and/or excretion. Analyze these potential interactions and include specific medication interactions that need to be considered when medications are chosen for patients.
4. Drug-to-food interactions may include issues with absorption, metabolism, and/or excretion. Analyze these potential interactions, including specific considerations to be made and included in patient education when medications are chosen for patients.
5. Many patients may want to choose complementary and alternative medications as their treatment choice. Patients need to be aware that interactions may occur. Discuss specific interactions from the readings & the literature and describe how you will instruct your patients to avoid these interactions.
6. Discuss the prevention of abuse and diversion of schedule II controlled substances, including identification of the risk of abuse, addiction and diversion, recognition of abuse, addiction and diversion, and types of assistance available in your state for prevention of abuse, addiction and diversion.
7. Discuss the pharmacokinetics of opioid medications.
8. Discuss the decision-making process for choosing a first line treatment for acute and chronic pain. Be sure to include type and pathophysiology of pain in your discussion as well as evidence-based guidelines to support your findings.
