Peoplehood Project Guidelines

Description

Students will produce a professional-quality poster using PowerPoint in which they:

- Holistically describe an indigenous nation of North America, including:

1. Traditional aspects of their culture, especially focusing on the facets of peoplehood

2. The contemporary situation (present-day political/economic/cultural/linguistic situation)

- Analyze contemporary challenges to the peoplehood of this group, making sure to:

1. Be very specific to this group (i.e. it is not enough to simply say "like many groups they face X issue)

2. Draw on theoretical paradigms from this course (for example, peoplehood, resource colonialism, or language shift)

3. Also include responses or resistance to these challenges, if applicable
- Include at least one image related to the group you choose to study.

This poster must draw on research from eight credible sources. For the purposes of this project, credible sources are:

Scholarly Sources: Scholarly books (i.e University Press) or peer-reviewed journal articles

Primary Sources: Sources written or produced by the indigenous nation itself, or a member of that nation.

Credible sources do not include anything else. Non-credible sources will not count towards your eight total sources and may result in deductions.

Poster Production
Use PowerPoint to complete your poster. You may use multiple slides if putting everything on one slide is challenging.

Poster Appearance
This needs to be professional in quality, reflecting upper-level work and attention to detail.
