Also, a number of students have asked what is due regarding project 2 this week. All you need to submit this week is your topic choice, along with two different references (in correct APA format) so I can be sure you are choosing appropriate peer-reviewed professional sources from Excelsior's library. You should be using sources that describe actual experiments, correlational studies, surveys, or case studies. An Exceslior librarian can assist you if you need help using the library databases. The full project (8 pages--described fully in the syllabus) is due at the end of mod 7. Please let me know if you have additional questions.
This activity will enable you to:
*Analyze at least two peer-reviewed papers in psychological research that incorporate quantitative and/or qualitative methods, comparing the research design, statistical tools and results (Psychology Program outcome 2)
At the end of Module 7 you will turn in Project 2, a 2,000 word literature review on a topic of interest within the scope of social psychology.
This week, in Module 4, you will begin working on the project by selecting a topic and submitting your selection to your instructor in the M4A1 dropbox.
To select an appropriate topic, complete the following steps:
1) First, read about the requirements for Project 2, below:
The literature review should describe what is known by the scientific community about the topic you have selected. It should include a logical progression of ideas and well-organized paragraphs.
To write a literature review, you will be required to read articles in journals or from other professional sources.
You could read articles from the journals:
Journal of Personality and Social Psychology
Journal of Experimental Social Psychology
The paper must contain at least seven (7) journal articles or other professional sources.
The introduction sections of journal articles will give you ideas about what your introduction should look like.
The introductions to articles in journals such as the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, and the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology provide exemplars for how to write a high quality introduction.
Your literature review should be a minimum of 2,000 words or 8 pages in length. All sources should be referenced and cited in APA format. The title page, abstract, and reference page do NOT count towards word/page totals.
2) Second, think of social psychology topics you are interested in by skimming through the textbook and reviewing past and future topics in the course. Conduct a preliminary search in the Excelsior College library to make sure enough literature is available on your topic. Contact your instructor via MyMessages if you have any questions.
Once you have selected a topic, submit your topic choice to the M4D2 dropbox in at least 1-2 sentences explaining to your instructor what your topic is and why you selected it.
M4A2 is not worth a separate percentage weight of your overall grade in the course, but it is required and it will factor into your final project grade evaluation.
