Case 1
Instructions
Yeats has discussed with you that there are increasingly new and changing roles and career opportunities for paralegals and legal assistants in workplaces outside law firms and legal organizations. For example, the HR department in corporations can offer new career options.
These new opportunities can be advantageous, but also present new ethical issues and potential risks.
Yeats wants you to research new career options and their related ethical issues and prepare a summary report of your findings.
Instructions:
A. Identify an article discussing at least one new career opportunity for paralegals and legal assistants outside the traditional settings of law firms and other legal organizations.
Provide the URL to the article.
B. Describe one new career option discussed in the article you identified in A. above.
C. Analyze and identify two specific ethical problems/issues that could arise in the new career role (described in B. above) relevant to a specific rule(s) in the Model Rules and/or Model Guidelines.
Identify specific rule(s) by title and number.
Discuss how and why the ethical issues can arise in the new role and how they are relevant to the Model Rule(s) and/or Model Guideline(s) you identified.
