Question: A critical essay is one in which you analyze and critically evaluate another person's argument. Your critical essay will also demonstrate your knowledge of arguments, critical analysis, and argument evaluation learned from chapters 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 11. You will be writing your analysis and evaluation of Edward A. Curry's essay "Should Race Be a Factor in College Admissions?" (Bassham et al. 224-226) Consequently, it must include the following elements: An introduction that identifies the title, author, and content of the essay that you are critically evaluating. Briefly, summarize the writer's basic position and state, in general terms, your overall evaluation of the argument (your thesis). An argument summary that standardizes the writer's core argument using the five-step method presented in Chapter 7. A critical evaluation that evaluates the argument by stating whether you think the argument is a good, convincing one and give reasons to support your view.
