Question: Analyze a current legal issue related to supply chain law that is of interest to you. The purpose is to:
1) increase your ability to research and analyze a legal issue
2) increase your understanding of a particular issue of interest to you, and
3) be able to hone and demonstrate your analytical skills. There are two criteria that you should apply in choosing this issue.
First, it should be current. That means that it an issue that is ongoing and currently being discussed in newspapers, trade journals, or other publicly available source. Second, it should be related to the law. That doesn't mean it has to concern a lawsuit, but rather that it concerns regulation, litigation, contract law, or any other legal topic that we have or will cover, or that is relevant to our course. In other words, you have broad latitude to pursue your interests. But don't make it so arcane or deal with proprietary issues that it's not relevant to a broader supply chain audience. You should begin the paper by identifying the issue that you have chosen, and describing the basic facts so that a reader can understand what has happened, and what the legal status of the topic. Second, you should analyze issue from both sides. This is not a position paper, but rather an analysis. For that reason, it is highly advisable that you use more than one source for this article if possible. I recommend three to five. These sources should be included in a reference table at the end of the paper, and any quotations or facts cited in your paper should be cited properly using quotation marks or footnotes. The final part of the paper - one to two paragraphs - should be used to describe your conclusion and opinion. It should naturally follow from the analysis that precedes it, and it should be supported by facts.
