UNIT 4: LANGUAGE AWARENESS AND ANALYSIS TO SUPPORT SKILLS IN ELT
In this assignment you must provide evidence that
• You understand theories, principles, models, techniques and resources applied to language analysis in ELT
• You understand basic concepts and terminology in relation to phonology, syntax and lexis at discourse, sentence, word, morpheme and phoneme level
• You recognize the significance of sociolinguistic aspects affecting the use of language in a communicative event bound by particular contextual factors such as culture, geography, history or power and status
• You can apply language analysis to suitable techniques and resources for the planning, teaching, learning and assessment of the four language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) and their sub-skills
• You recognize the barriers to and opportunities for the acquisition of language skills
• All work must reference the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) where possible
Understand and use key terms describing and analysing the acquisition of the four language skills as well as phonological, syntactic and lexical aspects of English at discourse, sentence, word, morpheme and phoneme level, and compare and contrast them with another language where appropriate
Select an integrated reading to writing resource created by you or taken from another source (making sure credit is given to the author of the resource), which you have used/might use in class to teach summary writing.
