To develop an understanding of the properties, performance and applications of common materials relevant to technologies.
Learning outcomes: On successful completion of learning the student will be able to demonstrate knowledge, skills and understanding at Level 5 relating to:
1. Classes of technology materials and their combinations.
2. Significant properties of technology materials.
3. Performance of technology materials.
4. Applications of technology materials.
Part A
Select a metallic vehicle component and discuss the suitability of the chosen materials for its application. Investigate what the advantages and disadvantages would be if other materials were used in a similar role.
Issues to be covered in this part:
1. Analysis of the vehicle component: role, work conditions, requirements for the role (be as specific as possible).
2. Analysis of material suitable for this specific application. Properties. How they are achieved (composition, heat treatment etc.).
3. How properties of the above described material meet requirements for the role ?
4. Other possible materials for the role: advantages and disadvantages.
5. Included in the report the diagram and photograph of the component being investigated.
6. The number of words required is 2000 - 2500.
Part B
Select two non-metal components of different type for instance tyres or leather and glass or specific polymer. Investigate its suitability for transport industry.
Issues to be covered in this part:
1. Analysis of the component: role, conditions, requirements for the role (be as specific as possible).
2. Analysis of material suitable for this specific application. Properties. How they are achieved.
3. How properties of the above described material meet requirements for the role ?
4. Included in the report the diagram and photograph of the component being investigated.
5. The number of words required is 2000 - 2500.
Programming language problems
: Many programming languages do not permit you to ask two or more questions in a single comparison by using a logical And Operator

Data systems and design
: Suppose if you have a program with a housekeep() module, a mainloop() module, and a finishup() module, when is the second input record usually read?
|
C program to compute and display sales of a store
: Modify the C program so that user inputs the buying amount. Check the user's input for validity.
|
Refresh address counter
: A microcomputer memory is built from 64K X 1 DRAM, with DRAM cell array organized into 256 rows. Each row requires being refreshed at least once every four ms, strictly on a periodic basis.

Question about character array
: The 2-most important design issues that are specific to character string types are the given, Should strings be simply a special kind of character array or a primitive type?
|
Create a program using c++
: Create a program using C++ or Java that will automatically generate x numbers between a range provided by the user? For purposes of this project, the range can be 1-20 and store them in an array.
