Learning Objectives - This assignment will allow you to: Apply the economics you are learning to a real world market.
Assignment Overview - Your success in the prediction market game is based on your ability to predict future crude oil prices, especially the price on June 26th. Your forecast paper is a 3 to 4 page, 1000 to 1500 word paper, justifying your final trade or forecast. The paper should be double spaced with one-inch margins. You are required to cite the Wall Street Journal (10 articles minimum). Some of the articles you cite may talk explicitly about the world oil market. However, some of the articles must be about economic factors that you believe will influence the world price of oil even though the price of oil is not explicitly discussed in the article. For example, when a large economy slides into a recession, demand for oil and thus oil prices usually decrease. So, any article about the US or other major economies slowing down may suggest a lower future price of oil, all else equal.

The paper should be double spaced with one-inch margins. You are required to cite the Wall Street Journal (10 articles minimum). Your paper will graded based on the following rubric: Writing is clear and engaging; economic analysis is correct; adequately addresses both the supply side and demand side of the market; has a US and world perspective; 1000 to 1500 words. Contains an engaging title that accurately conveys the content of the paper and distinguishes it from others.
Clearly states the purpose of the paper in a single, engaging sentence. Engaging; states the main topic of the paper; previews the structure of the paper. Each paragraph develops the main idea of the paper with thorough supporting details. No errors in punctuation, capitalization, spelling, word usage or sentence structure. At least 10 citations from the WSJ; All citations are done correctly using APA format.
Assignment Submission Instructions - Save your assignment as a (.docx or .pdf) file. If you are using any program that saves files automatically with a different extension (other than .docx or .pdf), you must choose to save as file type Microsoft Word (.docx) or Portable Format Format (.rtf), unless otherwise stated in your assignment guidelines, or the assignment will not be accepted. Include your own name in the title of the electronic file for identification purposes, for example "SmytheMaryForecastPaper" and do NOT use any spaces, punctuation, or special characters in the file name. After completing the assignment, submit it for grading using the assignment drop box.
