1. What is your analysis of the root cause of the physician shortage? Why does it exist? Is there really a shortage or just a poorly constructed system for using physicians? What alternatives are being implemented to remedy the shortage of available care to patients, e.g. Nurse Practioner? Physician Assistants?

2. How is the increasing reliance on technology affecting healthcare? In what ways does it enhance patient satisfaction? Cause less patient satisfaction in getting healthcare? Specifically what is the role of technology in changing the pattern of interactions between healthcare providers and patients.

3. Are traditional executive roles, such as the chief financial officer, chief medical officer and chief nursing officer, changing in response to changing business needs? Give three examples of business demands changing their roles. What are those new roles? Offer a comparison to past roles and new roles for each of the three.

4. Hospital and system board's responsibilities are to provide guidance in the strategic goals of the organization not to interfere with operations. What expertise is needed in a hospital board member? What political influences determine who is on the board of a community hospital? A for profit hospital? Compare the two boards and their roles.
