Choose a topic/approach (see below) and write a paper or put together a creative presentation, podcast, interactive/narrated PowerPoint, or other creative media project to present an in-depth analysis of an issue related to juvenile delinquency/justice. You must include a description of the problem, scholarly research on the problem, theoretical background, and solution. Please be creative, and innovative, and have fun!

Ideas/Options:

Write an executive summary or policy brief on a juvenile justice/delinquency problem and use theory to devise an innovative response or solution to the problem. Examples of real youth crimes presenting a problem locally include drugs, gun violence, gangs, auto theft, and other violent crimes.
You have been hired as a special consultant on juvenile justice issues. Choose a policy, practice, or problem, and write a persuasive letter or produce a podcast to local legislators to bring attention to the issue and/or argue for reform. Apply your expertise from course material (statistics, theories, research) and outside scholarly sources.
Write a paper or put together a presentation detailing the key issues and "state of knowledge" (sometimes this is called a "state of the field" or scoping review) on a juvenile justice policy/problem/issue we did not cover in class.
Select, discuss, and analyze a policy, law, or initiative intended to 1) control juvenile delinquency or 2) impact the juvenile justice system process or procedures. What is the policy you have chosen? How has it been implemented? What are the short and long-term impacts on system-involved youth? What are the collateral consequences of the policy? Did the policy meet its objective? How has the policy affected juvenile delinquency and/or the juvenile justice system? (*JJDPA excluded)
