Task 1 (500 words)

Think of a story/scenario about an incident/event/problem which has occurred or is currently occurring in your working life and/or organisation (which may include experiences working/attending charity, school and sporting organisations) and in which the concepts of attitudes and perception; motivation, and team dynamics are relevant.

Write this story/scenario down (in no more than 500 words). Be sure to include the titles/descriptions of key people/actors and descriptions of relevant situational variables (who? what? where? why? how?).

Several examples of scenarios appear in the ‘Assignment 1' topic area is attached to this thread (Note: some of the concepts may differ in the scenarios from the concepts you are being asked to capture). Please refer the attachment.

Task 2 (1,800 words)
Analyse the scenario/event/problem by critically discussing the following organisational behaviour issues as they pertain to the scenario:

Task 2.1 (600 words)
Identify content from Module 2 - Chapters 2 of the textbook related to attitudes and perceptions that are relevant to your scenario. Critically discuss what impact the events/incidents/problems in this scenario are likely to have on the attitudes and perceptions of the people identified in the scenario. (Module 2, Chapter 2 of the textbook).

Task 2.2 (600 words)
Identify content from Module 3 - Chapters 3, 4 & 5 of the textbook related to motivation that is relevant to your scenario. Critically discuss the impact that the motivational problematics evident in this scenario (as outlined in your scenario) had on the motivation of the key player(s) in the scenario. In your analysis draw on two theories of motivation and their application in the scenario. Draw on additional sources to support your analysis.

Task 3 (600 words)
Identify content from Module 4 - Chapter 6 & 7 of the textbook, related to group and team dynamics that is relevant to your scenario. Critically discuss the impact that the problematic team dynamics (as outlined in your scenario) had on the team and its performance in the scenario. Draw on additional sources to support your analysis.

Task 3 (Recommended actions - Maximum 2 pages)
Make recommendations: Draw up a table and summarise what actions could be taken to manage the (1) attitudes and perceptions and (2) motivation of the people identified in the scenario and what actions could be taken to improve the (3) group dynamics/functioning in the scenario. (maximum 2 pages). Your recommendations need to be a logical extension of the discussion in Task 2. This means you need to include a rationale for each recommendation that draws on the theories you discussed in Task 2.

An example of a ‘table of recommendations' appears in the ‘Assignment 1' topic area are attached to this thread. (Note: the topic area in the example is different to the ones you need to discuss).
