1. a. Maintaining safety and security in the workplace is a legal obligation. Proper preparation of your work environment is important to avoid risks and injuries. Establish your understanding of the terms ‘RISK' and ‘HAZARD': (20-30 words each).
b) Analyse the difference between a hazard and risk and create at least 2 (two) examples of each which are relevant to your work role (50-70 words).
2.Residual risk is the risk which remains after controls have been implemented. Organise how you will report it to your supervisor as a means to control it (20-30 words).
3. Work Health and Safety includes workplace and personal routines designed to improve health and safety. Evaluate some basic WHS housekeeping that would be done in your area of work. For example: cleaning up spills (50 words).
4. As a team member it is important to support others in working safely. Provide examples as to how you could support your colleagues to work safely and adhere to your organisations policies and procedures (50-70 words).
5. In order to identify hazards efficiently and effectively, we must Follow our organisations hazard identification procedures and Address
a) Revise what procedures tend to identify basic hazards(10-20 words)
b) Assemble what information is used to allow employers to see what hazards/risks/incidents have already been identified and what has been done about them? This information should be shared with others, including members of the work group where relevant (40-60 words).
6. A risk assessment assesses how likely it is that a hazard will harm someone. The assessment ranges from very likely to very unlikely. Risk control is taking action to eliminate health and safety risks so far that is reasonably practicable, and if that is not possible, minimizing the risks that are reasonably practicable.
a) Research what you need to consider in regards to level of risk and consequence when undertaking a risk assessment (50 words).
b) Interpret the hierarchy of risk control and propose how it will assist in the development and implementation of control measures. Provide support/examples (100-150 words).
7. It is your responsibility to be aware of your workplace policies and procedures relating to workplace health and safety (WHS).These policies and procedures and any work that is planned must be in accordance with certain documentation in order for that work to go ahead.
Assemble a list of these documentations that must be followed for example: WHS legislation (minimum of 4).
8. Stress and fatigue are common in workplaces when you feel that you don't have the resources to cope with the heavy demand and extreme tiredness begins to set in. Stress and fatigue may lead to health and safety issues where the employee may even resort to drugs and alcohol.
a) Revise the signs and symptoms of stress and fatigue that we can look out for in order to monitor our own levels and ensure we sustain our ability to work safely and sustainably (minimum of 6).
b) Employers have a legal obligation to protect their employees in the workplace. Assemble a list of human resource policies and procedures that would have been created in most workplaces in order to protect the safety of employees at work (minimum of 4).
9.Work Health and Safety is not a one person job. Every Employee must ensure the site is safe and report any hazards, Risks or incidents to management immediately.
a) Revise the roles and responsibilities of Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs), Health and Safety Committees (HSCs), workers (us as Enrolled Nurses), officers and persons Conducting a Business or Undertaking (PCBUs) (100 words).
b) As an employee, provide examples as to how you can contribute to WHS at the work place and who you would report/raise WHS issues with within a health care setting (50-70 words).
10. You have conducted a risk assessment at the housekeeping department of your work place after some control measures are implemented one month back by the management to rectify the identified hazards. You have identified that the implemented control measures haven't eliminated the risks completely. Explain your roue as an enrolled nurse (20 words).
11. The following table provides you with the basic data on the emergency colour codes used in the health and community care settings in Australia. You, as an Enrolled Nurse, should understand these codes and respond according to your organisations procedures if an
emergent situation arises. Assemble this table by writing the ‘Emergency Situation' against the Emergency Colour Code and revise the actions to be undertaken as need arises.
12. The appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is vital in healthcare as it not only protects our health and wellbeing but the wellbeing of our clients as well.
a. Provide examples of which PPE you are likely to use in the healthcare sector and what situations may require you to use this PPE. (Minimum of 3).
b. Propose why the storage and maintenance of PPE is important? (20-30 words).
13. Design the current safety signs for the following and establish their meaning (1 sign for each).

b. Emergency equipment
c. Personal protective equipment
d. Specific hazards (E.g sharps).
