Mackenzie lives for regular Page 13 of 18 Version: tournaments in her local area but cannot afford to travel interstate for events. In general, Mackenzie doesn't enjoy school and her teachers find her difficult, uncooperative, and sometimes aggressive. She does have a core group of friends who understand her, but often falls out with them. Mackenzie was born with Foetal Alcohol Syndrome. Her success at school is impaired by issues with concentration, memory, problem solving, and changes in routine. She often overreacts to a range of stimuli and has been suspended three times.
* Make a plan for successful inclusion strategies for one of the four students in the hypothetical scenarios
The task is divided into 3 sections:
1. Understanding of the learner's context and impacts on participation in the full curriculum. Identification of further professional development opportunities.
Questions: You must:
• Demonstrate a well-informed understanding of the learner's specific condition.
• Analyse how the learner's strengths and barriers to learning, as well as the demographic and academic context as identified in the profile might impact their learning and access to the full curriculum.
• Identify three professional development opportunities to learn more about students with the same condition or circumstances.
• Support your work with relevant contemporary research, links to inclusive education policies, and the Australian Standards for Teachers.
2. Evaluation of a collaborative approach and design of collaborative strategies.
You must:
• Evaluate how a collaborative approach with parents/ carers and other professionals might support the learner.
• Design and explain three original strategies specific to the learner to initiate and sustain collaboration.
• Support your work with relevant contemporary research and links to the Australian Standards for Teachers.
3. Creation and application of three learning goals and teaching strategies using the SMART framework.
You must:
• Create three specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and timebound learning goals using the SMART framework for the selected learner.
• Create and apply teaching and assessment strategies to support each goal.
• Support your work with relevant contemporary research.
