You have to do all the calculations as mentioned in the sample file but the financial statements from which the calculations has to be done should be from your 2 selected companies.

This is the first of two assessments for this course. For this assessment you will select a listed company from an Aotearoa New Zealand context and/or an Iwi/Maori organisation to use as case studies to critically analyse their financial decision making.

Learning Outcome Assessed

Analyse working capital decisions, interpret financial statements, make capital budgeting decisions and value financial assets within a managerial context including differences in financial considerations for Iwi/Maori organisations.

Instructions

To prepare for this assessment you will select a listed company from an Aotearoa New Zealand context and/or an Iwi/Maori organisation to use as case studies. Your selection will need to be based on your ability to access the appropriate financial and reporting documents to critically analyse.

Using your selected case studies and referring to relevant literature to support your analyses, prepare a report that critically analyses the financial decision making by interpreting the financial statements of each.

Your report will evaluate the profitability of the chosen organisation(s) via various valuation models, critically analyse working capital decisions, capital budgeting decisions, and make corresponding recommendations for improving future profitability.

Using your selected case studies your report will also critically analyse differences in financial decision making considerations for Iwi/Maori organisations.
