Learning Outcome 1: The first core learning outcome requires that on completion of the unit you should be able to demonstrate a systematic understanding of measurement techniques in the biotechnology context.
Learning Outcome 2: The second core learning outcome requires you to recognise and use professional standards for reporting laboratory data.
Brief Description of Assessment Task
• Assignment 2 requires you to analyse and present laboratory analytical data and write a formal structured report according to peer-reviewed research standard.
• In this case you will prepare a formal report of the Yeast Fermentation Practical of both the spectrophotometry manual practical and the yeast fermentation manual practical based on provided laboratory data.
• Appropriately analyse and present laboratory data and understand the meaning of analysed data.
• Present a formal written report of the work according to expectations described in the assignment brief.
Outline of Laboratory Report
The report must contain at the top of the first page: your student number, the unit code and assignment number, and the word count (excluding references). The main body of the report should contain the following:
• Short descriptive title
• Introduction
Background theory that links the laboratory work with the science that underpins the measurements; and an explicit statement of the aim(s) and objective(s) of the work done.
• Methods
Brief summary of the various aspects of the work done. This must be written in the past tense. Do NOT reproduce the protocol; rather you should outline in a few lines what was done at each stage of the work.

Section must start with extensive text that describes the results that follow: calibration data and glucose concentration changes (test and control).
• Discussion
