The Data - Complete text of a genre chosen by the student
The task
Analyse a complete text from any genre (consisting of between 750 and 1000 words) according to its organization, cohesion and coherence. Consider what the reader brings to the text to successfully process it.
Include the text as an appendix of your essay.
Necessary Components- Include a short introduction- Analyze the discourse features of the texts, identifying grammatical and lexical devices, in addition to rhetorical moves.- Discuss the text's coherence with reference to theoretical work on reader scripts, frames etc.- Refer to the text throughout your analysis.

C+ 10 Good • Generally good work. • Most points will have been covered, but many finer points will generally have been missed. • Shows limited reading. • Arguments/analysis should be basically well structured and balanced with relevant examples, but with errors and gaps. • The writing is clear, but has errors that nevertheless do not obscure the meaning. • Referencing will be present but may at times be inaccurate or insufficient.
GRADING SYSTEM DETAILS Although grades may be awarded on the basis of marks in some assessments, students should note that both marks and grades will be awarded on the basis of the assessment criteria for each grade. • You can submit a draft two weeks before the submission deadline by email to the tutor. You will not receive any marks for the draft version. However, the feedback that you receive can be used to improve the quality of the final version and consequently the final mark you receive for the assignment. • The final version of the assessment must be submitted online via Turnitin which you can access through MOVE. 5.3 Check list At the end, you will submit one Word document which contains the following: • Cover page • Introduction • Body of the work (including a review of relevant literature and your analysis of the data) • Conclusion • Bibliography
The cover page should contain the following information: • Title of Assignment • Name and code of module • Your name and student number Sections and examples should be numbered as follows: • Sections: 1.0; 2.0, 2.1, 2.2. 2.2.1; 3.0 etc. • Examples: (1); (2) a., b.; (3) etc. throughout the entire essay The assignment should be referenced in accordance with the Harvard system of referencing. • Hanging paragraph setting for all bibliography entries.
