Question

When visiting a patient in the cardiac ICU at a major medical center, the patient was asked if they felt like they were being well cared for by the nursing staff. The patient responded: "Well, I know that they are very short-staffed in this unit and the nurses are spread pretty thin and they don't always answer your call bell right away, but, I know that the nurses in this ICU really care about you, and caring goes a very long way with me". (Note that the patient picked up on the nursing lingo - short-staffed). Please address the following in this Discussion Forum: a. Document your analogy of the above scenario. b. Read the beatitudes in Matthew 5: 1-12. Draw an analogy between each beatitude (8) and link an ethical principle per ANA ethics in nursing practice.
