An orifice meter is installed in a 12 inch ductile iron pipe carrying water at 60 degrees F. A mercury manometer is used to measure the pressure difference across the orifice when the expected range of the flow rate is from 1500 gpm to 4000 gpm. The manometer scales range from 0 to 12.0 in Hg. Determine the appropriate diameter of the orifice.
