Imagine you work for an international telecommunications conglomerate that has just acquired a 300-person, family-owned telephone service provider. You have been asked to plan and manage a corporate off-site meeting in which 50 of the top- level people from the acquired company will meet for an entire day with 50 key people from your company. The purpose of the meeting will be to disseminate information, ease people's fears, obtain input, and gain buy-in. You have only one week to put this together. Should you use the scheduling tools presented in this chapter, or, given the short time horizon, should you just get right to work? Explain your answer. If you recommend using any of the scheduling tools from this chapter to plan this project, which ones would you use? Why?
