An elevator is hung by a steel rope. The rope has a cross-sectional area of 250mm2 and a modulus of elasticity of 70 GPa. the upward acceleration when the elevator starts is 4 m/s2. the rope is 100m long and the elevator weigh 1000 kg. determine the stress in the rope, the eleongation of the rope due to the elevator weight and etra elongation due to acceleration ?
