1. 1 g of lithium chloride is dissolved in 10 mL of distilled water. The container becomes warm to the touch. The reaction is an (exothermic/ endothermic) process. This is because (less/ more)  energy is released when ions bond to water molecules than is used to break the bonds in lithium chloride and to break the hydrogen bonds in the water.

2. 1 g of ammonium chloride is dissolved in 10 mL of distilled water. The container becomes cold to the touch. The reaction is an ( exothermic/ endothermic)  process. This is because (more/ less)  energy is released when ions bond to water molecules than is used to break the bonds in ammonium chloride and to break the hydrogen bonds in the water.
