Ambulatory care is highly sought after and provides outpatient services as it encompasses any care that does not require an admission or overnight stay. This can take place in either acute care, community health centers, minute clinics known as urgent care and/or physicians office setting. This type of care can be classified a variety of ways, and these facilities are often in close proximity to each other. Making it convenient for patients to seek care at their discretion. So, what makes them unique? Outpatient care including acute care does not require extensive follow-up process such as a sinus infection or bacterial infection. Often it does not require an admission neither. In contrary, minute clinics can have its advantages and disadvantages. Pros: convenience and quickness and extended business hours. Cons: hassle of establishing relationships with patients and healthcare provider. As a perspective patient, I would choose which facility to visit by distinguished attributing factors like time duration of being seen by a healthcare provider, patient to provider relationship, and how accessible is the healthcare with following up before making a decision to seek care.
