Each student in your class will be shown the same two pictures of men's faces used in the research study. You will be asked to assign the name Bob to one photo and the name Tim to the other. Each student will then submit the name that he or she assigned to the picture on the left. (You did this already on one of the online quizzes on PolyLearn). Then the name that the researchers identify with the face on the left will be revealed.

The observational units in this study is a student in the class and the variable we are interested in is whether the student named the picture on the left as Tim or not. This is a categorical variable with two levels. The parameter of interest here is the long-run proportion (probability) that a student in your class assigns the name Tim to the picture on the left. In this activity, we will investigate if people are more likely to identify Tim as the picture on the left.
