Aligning HR with Strategy
According to the P.H.Colin ( Dictionary of Marketing) Turnaround Strategy means making the company profitable again. This strategy is used for businesses that are losing money and need to be converted to healthy profitable business. It includes getting rid of unprofitable products, layoffs, introduction of new products. HR objectives to achieve success in turnaround strategy:
1. Align processes and systems so that they fully support vision and strategy of the organization. HR can work as a bridge between different departments and help everyone understand expectations and vision of the company. Strategies needs to be aligned between business units, support functions and external partners, which creates coordinated focus, making it easier to realize synergies.
2. Communicate strategy: Effective and open channels of communication of the strategy, initiatives and the targets of the organization, is vital for its success. If employees are not made adequately aware of what they are required to do, how will the achieve their targets.
3. Training: Success is unattainable if the staff is not properly trained, and motivated. HR needs to train the staff as per the strategic objectives. They need to manage, organize, supervise the training process, so that employees are trained on the skills required.
