A carefully controlled tensile test is conducted on a metal alloy specimen. The original diameter is 10 mm and the gage length is 50 mm. After a load of 23.6 kN is applied, the gage length increases by 0.311 mm and its diameter decreases by 0.017 mm. Find:

a) the stress

b) the axial strain

c) the lateral strain

d) the modulus of elasticity
