Assume you are a unit manager in a hospitality organization and that a talented young assistant manager reporting to you approached you and confessed that he was struggling with a substance abuse problem. The employee also states that he wants help from the company’s EAP to overcome it. Assume also that, previously to this, your evaluation of the employee was that he was ready to assume responsibility for his own unit.
