You work as an advisor to the Minister of Labour for the UAE, His Excellency Saqer Ghubash.

At an international conference last week, the Minister heard about the law in Norway which specifies the proportion of directors of large companies who must be female. He has asked you to study the subject and report to him on the advantages and disadvantages of such a law, both in generaland as far as the UAE is concerned. In particular, he wants you to consider whether there are enough women with sufficient experience to fill these positions, and whether the government should force companies to appoint directors on the basis of their sex rather than on value. He wonders if a quota (like 40%) would be a good idea. Send the Minister an e-mail in response to his request. The first sentenceis done for you:
