Question: Fred works as a zookeeper at Melbourne Zoo. Part of his role, is to do monthly checks and repairs on the gates and fences on the premises. Last week, Fred was busy working on the lion enclosure gate when he received a call from his girlfriend. Due to poor phone reception, Fred walked to a nearby hill where he could facetime his girlfriend. Unfortunately, Fred forgot to lock the gate he was busy repairing. Later that afternoon, while Fred was on his lunch break, he was shocked to see one of his co-workers being chased and bitten by a lion.

Later investigations reveal that the lion escaped the enclosure after the unlocked gate Fred was repairing, blew open in the wind. The co-worker lost his arm and currently recovering in Melbourne Hospital. ADVISE Fred whether he is guilty of Negligence
