Advertisement and Buying Decision

Advertising not only informs audiences but also urges them to purchase the product or service being advertised. Advertisement(ad) management is important for every company, and major business giants invest in their marketing and ads. Samsung also uses a different strategy to increase its reach to the consumers. Samsung is a South Korean technology company that is a renowned name all over the world (Jewel). Many of us realized a few years ago that our phones were already decent, and as a result, we have continued to use them for longer periods before upgrading. That affects their profits. Phone manufacturers are launching foldable models to entice consumers to part with their cash. Among them are the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip, which costs $1,380, and the Lenovo Motorola, which costs $1,500. In this essay, we will analyze how ads affect consumer buying decisions by discussing Samsung and one of its new products, foldable mobile phones.

Even Samsung's most optimistic initial estimates for the Galaxy Z Flip 3 were not accurate, which has given Samsung an early lead in the market for foldable smartphones.

The more affordable foldable handset that the company planned to release in 2021 got off to a roaring start six months ago and has maintained that pace into the fourth quarter of the year, with sales that were 14 percent higher than planned. After getting off to a strong start in August 2021, demand for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 "stalled" throughout this quarter. The device that was more compact, less expensive, and more useful than its competitors was an instant hit, which created difficulties for in-folding devices such as the Z Fold 3.

It is estimated that over 8 million foldable devices will be sold in 2021. Samsung was able to secure 88 percent of those sales, which resulted in a growth of 254 percent year over year and rendered every other global participant obsolete. It is expected that Samsung will continue to work on the Z Fold family of products, incorporating an S Pen silo into a next-generation model with a larger primary screen and a smaller cover display that generates a wider aspect ratio.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is a forward-thinking smartphone that has the potential to put Samsung in front of its rivals. However, Foldable phones are pricey. A standard user is unprepared to shell out additional money for a foldable smartphone. Samsung is aware that pricing its foldable phone at more than $1,000 could cost the company the opportunity to lead the foldable mobiles market. The Z Flip 3's most compelling selling point is the reasonable price at which it can be purchased. This device may seem less innovative in terms of functionality than the Z Fold 3. Still, if it is successful, it will ensure that Samsung will open the market for various folding phone types before Apple introduces its foldable iPhone in 2023.

Samsung's ability to compete with Apple's iPhone 12 Pro and the Galaxy S21 Plus will be aided by the Galaxy Z Flip 3, which costs $1,000. The Galaxy Z Flip, which can be folded in half and features a screen measuring 6.7 inches, has a price tag of $1380. A smartphone that costs $1,000 is expensive, but for a fully loaded foldable phone, the price may appear "affordable."

The Z Flip 3 is an improvement over its predecessor in terms of both refinement and size of the cover screen. Samsung aims to make foldable phones that cost $1000 the norm. If Samsung's Z Flip 3, which costs $1000, is a hit, the company may experiment with foldable phones that cost less. Who can say for sure if Samsung will sell a "cheap" version of the Flip 3 for $750? Amazingly, the company's bet on a foldable phone that costs thousands is paying off so spectacularly.

Foldable smartphones have the potential to completely transform the way people use mobile devices in the future, which is exactly what Samsung needs right now. There will be competition from other companies that provide cheaper phones than Samsung (Dirwan). Growing rivalry in the foldable smartphone market implies that Samsung will be able to create a new product category for smartphones, profit from ultra-high-end phones before the rest of the industry catches on and make more money through folding screen technology.

The advertisements are frequently humorous. Customers can be drawn in by entertaining activities. It is far easier to forget about dull advertisements in comparison to those that are intriguing. The effectiveness of advertising is increased when it includes entertainment. Many companies invest a significant amount of money in hilarious advertisements.

On August 10, 2022, the company intends to introduce smartphones with flexible displays during Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked event. New York, London, Chengdu, Bangkok, Milan, and Madrid are just some of the cities that have featured street video advertisements promoting the new foldable models.

"This ad illustrates that Samsung's foldable products are redefining the way that you use mobile devices," Samsung said in a statement about the advertisement. Additionally, it demonstrates that people can "record" significant moments in their life with innovative commodities that circumvent the limitations of smartphones.

There is widespread consensus among industry professionals that Samsung will introduce the foldable Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 devices. Renderings of the Samsung Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 have reportedly been shared online by anonymous users.

Samsung believes the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is the pinnacle of convergent technology. Significant businesses can benefit from Fold 3 in "three different ways." Some employees may use the Fold 3 as a smartphone, a tablet, and a personal computer because it comes with a Bluetooth keyboard and display. "We can reduce the number of endpoints and real estate locations."

Both foldable devices are being tested in commercial pilot programs by Samsung. "We feel there is an ROI, but the approach needs to be rethought," said Curtis. Returns would be driven by factors such as employee happiness and productivity and revenue from direct client involvement. The price of the $999.99 Flip 3 is significantly lower than that of the $1799.99 Fold 3.

Advisers who provide financial services employ Fold 3 to enlarge displays for their clients. Wealth management is a crucial aspect. Document management, the ability to multitask, and compatibility with the S Pen could all be valuable in the legal industry. Mobile and tablet-based healthcare is becoming an essential sector because of patient involvement. Field workers will be the primary users of foldable gadgets.

Samsung has big plans to take over the foldable device market. The brand's strategy, which may not be immediately apparent but hints at the future range, is determined by the launches of significant technological products. One thing was made clear very early on during Samsung's "Galaxy Unpacked" presentation, which was a pre-recorded video watched by millions of people: foldable phones are the primary emphasis of the firm moving forward.

Both the Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G and the Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G from Samsung are upgraded foldable smartphones. They improve the specifications of the preceding generations and solve problems that have persisted. Both the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3 have received an IPX8 rating, indicating that they are more durable. Consumers are more likely to purchase foldable phones if they are resistant to water and dust. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is more compact and durable than its predecessor, the Z Fold 2. The same is true for Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip 3 tablet.

Samsung can take one of two approaches: either include well-known smartphone features into foldable or lower the price of the devices. With the release of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, Samsung is bringing foldable smartphones to the public. Since the starting price of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is $1800, it is targeted toward consumers who do not mind paying premium costs.

This flagship phone may not be for everyone, but it is an essential step forward for both Samsung and foldable devices (Huang). It has the appearance of a typical phone and has a screen that is 6.2 inches in size. It unfolds to reveal a tablet with a screen measuring 7.6 inches. Under-screen camera technology is the latest innovation, and it does away with the necessity for a notch in the display.

The Galaxy Fold, Samsung's first folding smartphone, was never commercially available. Samsung produced review devices for the media that were prone to breaking. The company was required to adjust before launching an improved product version a few months later.

The second-generation Fold and Flip are vast improvements over their predecessors, but is there a market for foldable smartphones? There is no need for foldable mobile devices. I do not believe that Samsung offers a product that is so indispensable that you have no choice but to give up using your iPhone. Both the Z Fold 3 and the Z Flip 3 from Samsung are worthy of your consideration.

This is not the typical format for a phone review, but I have experience using both smartphones. The construction of these folding phones is superior to that of any others I have seen. Unless you place a premium on the ability to fold your phone, you should look elsewhere for your next smartphone purchase. However, they are not good. Because the Z Fold 3 costs $1,800, I would advise against submerging it in water to demonstrate that it is water-resistant. It is remarkable, considering how amazing this phone is, that the Flip 3 comes in at little under a thousand dollars.

Both the Fold 3 and the Flip 3 are useful in their unique ways. The longest battery life and cameras are the primary concerns. Both demand tradeoffs. They want to watch their favorite shows on their devices. After that, we will get back to discussing this. To begin, a topic that is far more interesting. To begin, a phone has the capability of transforming into a tablet. The second phone takes up less space when placed in a pocket or a purse. It is a trick, but it is a nice one, and I believe that many people will like it, especially considering the price it is being offered.

In every way but one, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is an improvement over its predecessor, the Fold 2. The software is the deciding factor. Android apps cannot distinguish between being run on a phone or a tablet, and even when they can, the user experience is still subpar. Foldable smartphones are something that Samsung hopes to make more popular. It is unclear to me if the company wants to market foldable smartphones as an upgrade option or whether it anticipates that one day all smartphones will be foldable. It is possible to have two wonderful ideas at the same time. Both of Samsung's foldable phones can be considered entirely separate entities in this context. They only have one joint in common. Unfolding or collapsing a phone is not an attempt by Samsung to make its products larger or smaller. Its purpose is to persuade you that a foldable phone, whichever version you choose, is a viable option for you. It does a brilliant thing by leaving the decision up to the market.

Peer review questions

Write your answers below (or on a separate sheet of paper) to each of the questions.

1. First, begin by reading the essay through non-stop. What is the purpose of the essay? Write a few sentences about your overall impression. Summarize the main idea of the essay as you understand it.

Who do you think is the audience for this paper?

Next read the essay to yourself slowly and write your responses to the following questions, or make notes and marks on the essay as necessary. Avoid useless Yes or No answers; offer complete responses and suggestions you feel would help to improve your peer's draft.

2. Find the thesis sentence in the paper and underline it.  What insight about the corporation does the thesis make? What do you enjoy most about the writer's approach to the subject?

Introduction and background information:

3. Does the author mention the corporation and provide adequate background information in the introduction? Is there a creative "hook" that grabs the reader's attention?

4. Is there a brief overview of the essay in the introduction-some indication as to how the author will develop his or her ideas? What needs to be added, if anything?

5. Are there any terms used in the essay that require explanation or special definition? List them. Important terms should be defined in the introduction or early in the essay.

Body Paragraphs:

6. Examine one paragraph. Choose one body paragraph to examine in detail. The purpose of the body paragraphs is to take one aspect of the thesis statement, explain it in detail, and support it with researched quotes, explaining how the quote proves the author's point.  The goal of this essay is to convince readers whether or not to support a corporation based on its business practices.

A.  Topic Sentence:  Find the topic sentence of the paragraph, and underline it.  The topic sentence in the paragraph should express the paragraph's main point, which supports the paper's thesis.  Is the point of that sentence sufficiently clear? If not, how could it be improved?

B. Transitions:  Identify words or phrases at the beginning and / or end of the paragraph that serve to make a logical transition both to that paragraph and to the next paragraph. Do those transitions work for you? Could they be improved? How?

C.  Quotes: Look at the evidence provided in the paragraph (usually a quote or two, but at least a specific reference to the source).  Does it clearly support the conclusion(s) drawn from it? Is more evidence needed?

7. Look briefly at the paragraphs or sections on (1) the consumer's perception of the corporation; (2) the corporation's website / self-representation and/or advertising; and (3) the sections where the corporation's business practices are discussed. Note any places where more detail, clarity, support, or development is needed.

Suggestions for Reorganization or Development:

8. Focus now on the entire essay. What still needs to be discussed by the writer?   Discuss any ideas you might have to help the writer complete effective argument about whether or not we should continue to support the corporation.

9. Underline and / or make margin notes to address each of the following questions.

  • Point out passages that provide a clear, easy-to-follow analysis.
  • Point out places where the writer showed some enlightening insight into the subject
  • Point out places where you would like greater specificity or more detail.
  • Point out general or flat statements. Indicate places where the writer might be more successful in illustrating the thesis through use of summary, paraphrase, or quotation.

10. Look at the ending. Is it satisfying? Does it repeat what you already know? Does it oversimplify or reduce the author's thesis to something less important than you expected? Does the ending frame the essay by referring back to the beginning or explain the overall significance or importance of the subject?  Were you convinced by the author's argument? Was it insightful?

11. Documentation & Quoting: Is the documentation, as far as it is used in the draft, correct? Does the author use quotes effectively? Does s/he integrate them well, or are they simply inserted? Does the author use too many quotes? Too few? Are there appropriate uses of paraphrase and summary as well?
