This Assessment is designed to assess your ability to:

Question 1
Andrew Dore is a system consultant with The Wizards Pty Ltd. Andrew's friend Justin has opened a new boat yard business, Floating Free Pty Ltd.
Justin needs help establishing the systems and procedures he will need to operate his business. Andrew suggests that he spends some time researching how the company runs and will get back with his recommendations.
After spending a couple of days in Floating Free Pty Ltd, Andrew confirmed the following:
The business is a new boat yard business located in Mosman selling new and used WaveCutter boats. It also has a small shipwright services for doing repairs and maintenance for WaveCutter boats. Staff include Justin as the General Manager, Ray the Accountant, Justine is the Service and Marketing Manager.
In addition to business management and ATO reporting, Andrew will need to ensure the system provides the information required as part of the newly introduced requirements established by the Boating Industry Association, these include, number of sales and services on a monthly basis.
Required:
Prepare a summary report documenting:
I. The type of information required, including the identification of the unique requirements of the two business areas, Sales and Service.
2. Any known or recommended security requirements.
3. External body reporting requirements.
Question 2
Justin has advised Andrew that he agrees with the user requirements and wishes to proceed to the next stage of system selection. Justin has asked Andrew to compare the accounting system WaveCutter Pty Ltd can provide as part of their dealer arrangement with the system that Andrew has been suggesting.
Required:
1. Based on the user requirements you have identified in Question 1, prepare an evaluation criteria that Andrew could use as a basis to compare the features of the two systems.
2. What is a cost/benefit analysis. What is its purpose? List some elements that are generally included in the costs, and some that are generally included in the benefits.
Question 3:
Once the system selected had been implemented, Andrew asked Justin to identify who would be involved in testing the system to ensure it performed all the functions that Floating free Pty Ltd would require.
Justin thought since Justine would be the main person using the system on a day to day basis, as long as she was happy with the system that would be sufficient.
Required:
I. Discuss Justin's response, what should Andrews recommendations be in relation to Acceptance Testing?
2. Included in the Acceptance Testing will be verification of the system outputs, ie reports etc. What types of activities could Andrew include in the Acceptance Test to provide evidence that the system is operating correctly?
Question 4:
Andrew is considering the method he will use to provide system documentation. Andrew has in the past provided User Manuals in hardcopy documents and he has also written them so they are integrated as part of the system (online).
Required.-
Describe the advantages and disadvantages of providing system documentation via each method.
