ADMN 2606 Business Statistics - Nipissing University
Aiming to better understand the differences between salaries of graduates, Nipissing University has collected data from a sample 186 members of our alumni. The data include salary of Marketing, HR and Accounting graduates based on years of experience upon graduation from the School of Business.
The data reflects:
• Starting salary of our graduates in Marketing, HR and Accounting
• GPA of Accounting students
• Whether Marketing students took part in the coop program (No=0 and yes=1)
• Years of work experience upon graduation for all the streams
* Assume the collected data has normal distribution
Nipissing University would like to know the following based on the collected data.
1. Conduct a descriptive analysis of the sample focusing on Accounting Students (GPA, Years of Experience and Salary) report on measures of central location and variance for two different variables, also use a graph to describe one of the variables.
2. Is there a relationship between GPA and Salary for Accounting students, use a graph to depict this relationship and conduct correlation analysis
3. Can Nipissing University infer significant differences exist between salary of their marketing and HR graduates.
4. Estimate the mean salary of HR students with 95% confidence.
5. Estimate with 95% confidence the portion of marketing students that took part in coop (code 1 from the dataset).
6. Can we infer there are any significant differences in graduate salaries (Accounting, Marketing and HR) based on years of experience (30%)?
• Assume significance level of .05 when needed. Directions:
- Answer each question on a separate Excel Sheet using Data Analysis and Data Analysis Plus or XLSTAT.
- Each excel sheet should include the following:
• Analysis: 1) State your chosen method of analysis; 2) present the test results in tables (Make sure to present the complete and relevant Excel output (Table) for each of the questions). Note: If the question involves hypothesis testing present the null and alternative hypothesis.
