A 74-year-old widowed male fell in his house two days ago. He was admitted to the hospital to the orthopedic trauma unit with an admitting diagnosis of right hip fracture. A right total hip arthroplasty was performed yesterday. He has a history of the following: hypertension, cataracts, hard of hearing, degenerative joint disease, osteoporosis, coronary artery disease, and cholecystectomy.the patient lives alone in a two-story house with his dog, Buddy, which he adores. He has friends who have visited occasionally since his fall, but his children live out of state. It is 0700 and you are beginning your shift. You will need to complete a general assessment for this patient. You may verbalize any medication needs, but you will not be administering medications during this scenario.
