The nurse is interviewing Milly, a 16-year-old client who is being admitted to an inpatient psychiatric unit. The nurse knows eliciting information from members of this age group can often be difficult. To build trust and rapport, the nurse informs Milly that: her records are private and will only be shared for treatment purposes or if she divulges information that may result in harm. she is in a safe place. Everyone cares about her. Her needs will be met and she has come to the right place to receive treatment. the nurse was once a teenager, had a similar problem when she was growing up, and understands Milly's situation. the unit has other clients who have similar troubles and she will now have a safe place to discuss her feelings and problems.
