• To end the paper, you can comment on the significance of individuals in making historical and social change; the importance of this particular story; the importance of rights for workers, etc.
General
• must have at least one individual from the NJ case and at least one from IL.
• use specific page references for each of the incidents you are using as proof, whether you directly quote something from the text, or paraphrase it.
• transition smoothly between incidents within an argument paragraph, and between argument paragraphs. E.g. "Another situation in which Dr. Martland was particularly helpful was...." or "While the case was settled in New Jersey, over in Ottawa, Illinois, more girls were getting sick. One of these was Catherine Wolfe, who...."
• have someone read your paper for you to see if you've left anything uncontextualized. E.g. "Martland, therefore, along with von Sochocky, designed a test for radium poisoning."Better: "Martland, therefore, along with USRC founder and radium paint inventor Sabin von Sochocky, designed a test for radium poisoning."
• Style: relatively formal;not an opinion piece (avoid personal pronouns I, me, you, we - unless they are in a quotation, of course!); this is also not an essay on why everyone should read this book so there's no need to go overboard praising it!
• Contextualize evidence or references to events and people in the book - your reader should not be confused!
• don't refer to the book as a "novel" (it's not fiction!)
