Your client is pregnant and is concenred about some recent results she has heard from her doctor about possible complications in the delivery process. These complications sound as if they may cause a diffith delivery for her. She has come into counseling because her husband has a concern about how her anxiety about the delivery process in general may be impacting her as well as the baby. This recent news has solidified his insistence (and her willingness) to come in for counseling. As you talk with her about her concerns, she tells you that she was molested as a child by a family member, has struggled with anxiety around that for many years, and has never talked about it in therapy because she has not come to therapy before. Your clinical hunch is that her unresolved sexual abuse issues may be fueling her current anxiety.

a. Because she already has anxiety that feels at a crisis level for her, how would you bring up the possible sexual abuse issues?
