Assessment Task: Develop a Team Project Proposal
Addresses some elements of required skills and knowledge as shown in the Assessment Matrix
Description:
Teams formed in the previous task (Assessment Task 1) will continue to work together in this task. This assessment task cannot be completed as a stand-alone task and the learners must ensure that they are part a team from the beginning of the project.
The team will maintain the given role plays and for the project purpose delegate specific roles and responsibilities to all the members. Members responsibilities and task allocations will again be reviewed and amended for the purpose of this task. Notes of discussion must be maintained in the team folder. As a culturally diverse team, you team interactions will be observed by your trainer/assessor to assess how the team members respect and foster diversity; including overcoming language and communication barriers and collaborative nature of work (i.e. how the team has implemented the Diversity Policy developed in Assessment Task 1).
The purpose of a project proposal is to determine if a proposed project is feasible, practical, and worth pursuing. Project proposals are documents designed to present purpose, objectives, proposed solution, scope, costs and risks associated with a project.
In this assessment task, your team will be required to prepare a proposal for a simple project using the guidelines provided below. Some of the examples of projects could be;
• Developing a website for your agency
• Launching a new marketing campaign
• Implementing a new IT/reservation system in your organisation
• Organising a PR event
• Participating in a travel and tourism expo
Your team may conceive other project ideas based on your interest. Discuss your project idea/concept with your trainer/assessor if you are unsure. Once you have finalised your project, prepare a project proposal covering the following points;
• Background (Problem- why the project is needed)
• Purpose/Objectives of the project
• Project Scope (what will the project accomplish - the solution)
• Project duration (Expected start and end dates)
• Perceived obstacles and risks including OHS requirements
• Perceived costs and benefits
• Required resources and record keeping systems
The proposal must be word processed and structured with appropriate headings and sub-headings as needed. It must be prepared as a formal business document that can be seen as an official document for submission to the management. All external sources must be appropriately cited and acknowledged using the Harvard referencing system. Your trainer/assessor will provide you with referencing guidelines.
