Consider the following scenario:
As the manager of Radiology, you received a complaint from a staff member. Shadra, an Indian mammography technician, complained about John making offensive comments about her food, how she dresses, and her accent. You talked to John about his behavior, and he stated, "Shadra does not belong here and should go back to where she came." You are outraged at John's behavior and have decided to reach out to HR for guidance.
(Use your own words) In regards to the scenario, what is the problem? What needs to be addressed or fixed?
Why is it essential for the manager, the Director, to consult HR? As a Director, is it your responsibility to address workplace conflict among your direct reports, right?
Also, does not nearly every organization require employees to attend annual diversity and inclusion and sexual harassment training? To this end, what type of guidance is the Director seeking from HR?
