Research is not only an activity that requires solving problems, but also intends to be shared. For example, the gadgets we use are products of intensive research and before companies invest on these technologies, technical reports are needed to make sure that these gadgets are workable and worth the money.
Technical reports are documents that use different approaches in data collection to answer a research problem. Aside from exploring a research problem, it also contains the following sections:
Background of the study - This is a section that delves on the nature of the problem. The circumstances that have lead to the problem and reasons why the writer would want to address the problem through research.
Relevant literature ( or review of related literature) - This is a section that synthesizes important studies that serve as support for the present investigation.
Methods, Materials, and Participants - This is a section that describes the different ways in collecting data as well as the needed strategies in arriving at answers to the research questions. These may be techniques of analysis. Also, if applicable, participants should also be described in general-criteria in their selection and number.
Result and Discussion- This section expounds on the answer to the research questions. Specifically, the results and discussion should present findings from surveys, interviews, or experiments as well as support from the studies collected from library or online research.
Conclusions and Recommendations - This section presents generalizations drawn from the results and discussion.
