Case Study: Cheri R. (2021) conducted a study titled turnover intention and Motivation: Quantitative Correlational of a federal agency. The problem statement for this study is that the problem with turnover is not limited to that of one organization, sector, or nation; this study asserts that turnover is seen as a global issue (Cheri 2021).
According to this assigned study, the main purpose of this quantitative correlational research is to help determine the relationship between turnover intention, intrinsic motivation, and extrinsic motivation among service members. The theoretical framework that was used in this study was centered around two important frameworks that first was based on R.M Ryan and Deci's (2000) SDT and Fishbein and Ajzen's (1975) psychological typology this theory had three important themes. The first was motivation impacted commitment and turnover intention, the second is that motivation and emotional exhaustion are linked and lastly, turnover intention can be moderated by some organizational nostalgia. The second theory was based on the self-determination theory. This study had two research questions they were.
R1: To what degree is there a relationship between turnover intention and intrinsic motivation among service members?
R2: To what degree is there a relationship between turnover intention and extrinsic motivation among service members?
Alignment Analysis: all the critical components of this study align well with what the author is trying to see. The problem statement is clearly defined and does show that there is a possible gap that does exist in the research. With a quantitative research method, the researcher is trying to see if there is a relationship between two or more variables within the study. However, if this was done with a qualitative study, this study could have gathered more information, for example, using surveys or focus groups to get the needed information.
Question 1: Areas of potential improvement: This study looks well structured, and the critical research components align well. The only area of improvement would be to widen the sample of individuals within the agency used for this study.
Question 2: Address the content of your colleague's analysis and evaluation of the topic, as well as the integration of the relevant resources.Address a question posed by your colleague for further Discussion.
Question 3: Link your colleague's posting to other colleagues' postings, or to other course materials and concepts, where appropriate and relevant.
