It is a negotiation where something has to be gained. No trick is off limit: if it makes them a little less at ease, then so be it, we'll proceed as usual and they will have to adapt. We've known this country's negotiating style for a very long time. They keep the same tactics and have the same interests. No need for reassessment. But I wonder about this new administration though... A cultural adaptation strategy implies first and foremost maintaining critical thinking on the issues at stake and paying attention to the relationship you want with your counterpart. It is always important to be careful and adaptive.
