The primary responsibility of a patient advocate is to advocate for the patient's best interests and to actively pursue optimal patient care in all situations. In this particular scenario, it is evident that the nurses failed to prioritize the patient's well-being. The absence of evidence regarding the consideration of potential risks associated with discharging the patient while she was in a sedated state, as well as the lack of evidence indicating any measures taken to ensure the patient's safety or the provision of high-quality care, is apparent. Furthermore, the nurses failed to record their apprehensions regarding the patient's state, potentially signaling to the physician the necessity of extended hospitalization for further monitoring. Based on the available evidence, it can be inferred that the nurses failed to uphold their ethical obligation to serve as patient advocates. Despite implementing certain measures to ensure the patient's comfort during her hospitalization, there was a failure to comprehensively consider all pertinent information and provide the necessary level of care.
