Question

There are three levels of prescriptive authority given to nurse practitioners in various states. Choose the statement that shows an accurate understanding of prescriptive authority. Reduced prescriptive authority limits nurse practitioners from writing prescriptions for any medications or supplies. With a restricted prescriptive authority, nurse practitioners can write prescriptions as long as a DEA license is maintained. A DEA license is not needed for nurse practitioners with full prescriptive authority. Nurse practitioners with full prescriptive authority do not need a collaborating physician to write prescriptions.
