You just made a scientific breakthrough! You successfully mutated a pathogen to solve a world problem and are well on your way to receiving a Nobel Prize. However, you will never become a Nobel Prize winner if nobody knows about it. You must now find a way to publish.

Your job is to write a synopsis of your breakthrough that you can send to several peer-reviewed journals. Complete the tasks below.

  1. Do the following:
    • Describe the world problem you are solving such as the accumulation of plastics in the ocean or increased CO2 emissions.
    • Identify the pathogen you used and describe how you genetically modified it. Be sure to describe what gene(s) you genetically modified or added to/deleted from the genome of the pathogen and why.
    • Explain how your mutated pathogen will solve the problem identified above.
