Discussion

The human behavior I am choosing is going on a diet. According to the Humanistic theory, Carl Rogers proposed self-concept and more specifically the ideal self and the real self. Using this theory, going on a diet can end in two ways. Either you are successful or you are not. Since the ideal self if who you would like to be, you may set high expectations for yourself but if you look at it negatively, your real self will not fulfill those expectations. If you look at it positively and have a good attitude, you will most likely fulfill those expectations and see results. According to the behavioral theory, B.F. Skinner believed that personalities are shaped through your environment and can change over time. If you were to go on a diet but your whole life you were raised eating junk food, your diet will probably be very hard for you and you will feel helpless. However, using this theory, over time you can developed new skills that can help you be successful and build discipline.
