Assessment Title - Personal Learning Journals
The Personal Learning Journal will require you to complete, or also be assessed on:
- Set portfolio questions from subject guide, that are addressed, discussed & answered during classes,
- Participation during the classes, and
- Completion of exercises during the classes, and
- 2 additional submissions which offer students the opportunity to demonstrate understanding, obtain feedback and be able to learn from this feedback before the exam (KEY submissions).
Submissions should contain a MINIMUM of 500 words and should include examples, graphs, and calculations where relevant to evaluate current economic events with theory learnt in classes.
Personal Learning Journal - The PLJ case study article - "Rhodium ride": Why are rhodium prices on a roll?
1. Explain what messages this news article conveys and decide whether they will impact, demand, supply or both determinants; as well as prices - citing relevant theory from the prescribed text book. (E.g. Price vs Non-price determinants).
2. Construct clearly labelled graphs to demonstrate what will happen to the market, (you can use separate graphs for separate effects if that is easier); and
3. Explain the theory and effects being applied in your graph using full sentence explanations.
4. Any subsequent or 'follow on' effects to the market, after the initial impacts (graphs can also be used here to illustrate).
