When nurse Thandi Ntuli comes to work, it seems that everything else in her life goes away, and she becomes completely absorbed in what she does. Her emotions her thought and her behaviour are all directed towards patient care. In fact, she can get so caught up in her work that she is not even aware of how long she has been there. As the result of this total commitment, she is extremely effective in providing patient care and feels uplifted by her time at work. It is evident that nursing staff play an important role in sustaining health in a country like South Africa, and it is therefore important to understand what motivates nursing staff. An interesting view to this is understanding meaning and engagement, managers can increase levels of work motivation.

In light of the above abstract apply the self-efficacy theory to analyze Thandi's motivation towards her work.
